R.A.F.T.-- A Writing Activity for any 'ol subject!
RAFT- creative writing that allows students to write from the point of view of someone/thing relevant to class content. This allows students the opportunity to explain or illustrate a specific topic or idea being discussed and taught in class. This activity provides student evidence of understanding and mastery of content. See the Science class example below for more clarification.
Create a Pages document, adding a chart so that you can offer 2-4 options for students to chose from. This activity could pull prior knowledge, build understanding of a concept being taught, or serve as a review. Students get the opportunity to be creative and have fun with class material!!
Give it a shot and if you do, shoot Mrs. Sechler an email, she'd love to see what the kids come up with :)
Check out the resources below that show support of this activity as a means to improve students' literacy!! It's a fun activity, enjoy!
